Completed my maiden BRM300 KM Cycling. Believe I didn't do any practice ride after BRM200 on last month 21. On the race day first I missed the alarm @3:45AM and finally woke up @4:30, quickly got ready and no time to take up any food, reached the venue(JBC,Velacherry) by cycling @5:20 collected my Brevet Card .
flagged off @5:30AM, Joined along with Nandu crossed the first control point (Kelambakkam) @6:45 , from there we took right to Vandalur, in between I felt my cycle tyre air level is low and difficult to follow up with Nandu and slow down my speed and waited for someone has Pump, fortunately IronMan Anil Sharma Ji came on the way, he helped me with filling air in both tyre, Thanks so much to Him. Thursday given cycle for service and thought that everything is fine. After that started riding steadily reached GST road crossed Vandalur,Guduvancherry and looking Roadside hotel for breakfast, saw one hotel where few riders were parked their vehicle , stopped there (56th KM: 8:30AM) by the time Nandu finished his breakfast and came out ,just took selfie and He started his journey ,myself took around 20 mins for breakfast, felt energetic started my ride towards next Control Point(108th KM) ,Accharapakkam IOB ATM, it was easy ride with few down slopes and bridges. Reached the Control point @11:41AM.
Its unmanned Control point,just we need to take a ATM slip for the timing, as usual no paper available just took selfie in front of the ATM covering Bank Banner, we can claim with mobile picture timing.Took 15 mins break, started @12:00 PM , Next Control Point Chendur@151Km(U-Turn),should cross before 3:30 PM ,the next 45KM was very difficult with Very High Temperature and Headwind.
Managed to reach the control point @2:45PM, took 10 mins break and took U-Turn started ride towards Chennai ,Immediately just few meters stopped at one Hotel for lunch, charged my Garmin 310XT around 15mins,even 20Hrs backup just wanted to be in safer side to cover entire course, finished my lunuch and started @3:12 PM. Next Control point is Accharapakkam @195KM, should cross before 6:30 PM. Return was pretty easy ride able to maintain around 20KM Pace , @183KM around 4:50PM) surprisingly met Nandu and unfortunately his cycle back wheel got punctured ,we both were searching for Cycle shop and luckily found one nearby shop, did the puncture and resumed our running @5:20PM.
Again joined with Nandu , I was little afraid about my pace whether I could follow up with Nandu Speed. I should appreciate his patience and guidance for the remaining 120KM, without him I wouldn't have completed the race. Once again Thanks Nandu Muralidharan!! Truly great experience to ride with you!! We reached the next control point @5:50PM(195KM) timing proof we both took selfie infront of Accharapakkam Karur Vaysya Bank ATM, Next control point @178KM, Kelambakkam HDFC ATM, should cross before midnight 12:30.
We both started ride steadily in between had two breaks, around 8:45PM rain started pouring while crossing Goduvancherry, we stopped for dinner and resumed our ride in another 10 mins. Able to reach the next control point @10:41 PM, Just 25KM more to go !! we have enough time to cross the finish line(JBC, Velacherry) before 1:30AM. Finally finished the BRM300 cycling @12:20 AM. We have submitted the Brevet card to officials . Now officially I have completed BRM300 and have to wait for another one year to receive my Finisher medal from France!!
